Rubber Sheet is normally processed in a calendering process:
• First the rubber sheet compound is put on a warming mill
• Second the rubber sheet compound goes through a series of rollers usually calendering at room temperature
Rubber sheet is usually made by calendering onto a liner, which is stripped off after vulcanizing.
Normally the rubber sheet liner is a plastic film or nylon fabric.
Rubber sheet is normally cured in an autoclave under heat and pressure.
Rubber sheet can also be made into molded slabs .250" thick to 4" thick and in 36" x 36" or 48" x 48" pieces.
Rubber sheet applications involve packing, gaskets and sealing of all types of materials including gases, liquids and solids.
It is essential that all of these factors be carefully considered to assure selection of that grade and type of sheet rubber which will deliver optimum performance as well as economy.
